It's starting to really look like the prospects of having an NBA season has diminished. NBA commish David Stern has already started his media chastising of the players and portraying them as villians. The players rejected this latest deal and have officially voted to disband its union paving the way for an anti-trust lawsuit of some sort. Good for them. Without either side, there isn't any league and any deal other than a 50-50 split down the middle, is absurd. I'm riding with the players on this one.
Last week, I virtually sucked off Eli Manning. Singing his praise and putting him high up in terms of elite quarterback status. This past week in San Francisco, we found him in an all too familiar place...preparing for yet another 4th quarter comeback. Giants down by 14 in the 4th when Manning throws an unbelievable TD pass to Hakeem Nicks. After a defensive stop, Mannning again, marched down the field converting a 4th down pass along the way. But a second 4th down play on the 49ers 10 yard line, proved to be costly as Justin Smith batted down the Giants' last hope for a win. Manning attempted a short pass intended for Cruz but it got swatted away by the defensive end. Eli's attempt for an astounding 6th come from behind win this season fell short. Nonetheless, this kid is amazing in that 2 minute offense. My hats off to the Giants for being resilient and clutch at the end of the game and also to the 49ers, who found a way to win even if Frank Gore didn't have any rushing yards.
Usually, you won't read much of the Jets here on ON THE BLOCK SPORTS with yours truly, but how pathetic are these guys? And you Jets fans aren't too far behind. Just because the mighty NY Giants beat the Patriots without two of their most important offensive weapons, that doesn't mean the Jets were going to beat them. Jets would never be as good as the Giants....EVER. Dave Brown was a better quarterback than Mark Sanchez would ever be. And that foot fetish fat boy has the nerve to curse at some fans....what a jerk. Jets suck. The Saints/Falcons game was a good one to watch. Atlanta went for it on a 4th and 1 instead of punting the ball in OT and it proved to be a costly error. The Bears destroyed the Lions as it seemed that Stafford was just tossing the ball straight to the defense. Houston Texans are in a world of hurt now as they have to rely on Matt Leinart for the rest of the season due to Matt Schaub's foot fracture. Eagles stunk up the place again, Vick got hurt again and might miss next week's game against my Giants. Cowgirls won behind a strong performance by Tony Romo. And the "Welcome Back, Where the Hell You've Been At" award goes to....Chris Johnson. He still remembers how to run the football after all. He put up some numbers, 130 and 1 TD....about damn time. There were some other games as well but whatever.
I checked out some college football over the weekend. Justin Blackmon from Oklahoma State cannot be stopped. This kid is a beast. They beat Texas Tech 66-6 LMAOOOO and check this....Houston beat Tulane 72-17! What kind of scores are these? WOW.
I lost some money betting on Cain Velasquez this past weekend. It wasn't that I'm a big fan of his, I'm just a big fan of him whopping Brock Lesnar's ass last year. I got caught up in the replay moment long enough to place a call and a messed up bet. He lost via a right hand then a left hand followed by subsequent right and left hands. Congratulations Junior Dos Santos. You beat his ass.
Remember to hit me up @NASTYLOS
