Just got to listen to this dope album titled "High Hopes Drunk Faith" by Fresco Sounds, a 19 year old emcee from Mount Vernon, NY. I cannot lie, when I heard 19, the first thought that popped into my head was the normal clones that are produced by the sounds of today's commercial rap. The result was the exact opposite.
The first track features the audio from one of Fresco Sound's live performances where he warms the crowd up before jumping into a quick acappella to showcase his wordplay. The next tracks on High Hopes Drunk Faith are delivered with a feel of a live performance produced entirely by Mike Spits (seasoned producer for the likes of Cory Gunz, Fred the Godson and more). The album incorporates classic sounding drums layered over soulful samples along with Fresco's "ahead of his time" lyrics. Covering various topics such as life struggles, relationships, and his growth as a person and as an artist, Fresco Sounds presents a quality product with a refreshing feel reminiscent of that 90's era hip hop.
