ON THE BLOCK SPORTS WITH @NASTYLOS

The biggest news this week is the ineptitude of the New York Mets front office.  They allowed their biggest offensive weapon, Jose Reyes, to walk free and sign with a divisional rival, the Miami Marlins.  It was common knowledge that the Mets weren't going to be able to afford to keep him, but to not even try to cut payroll to make it work, is inexcusable.  Many fans are in total disgust with the Mets right now and a lot them have even burned their Mets gear.  The front office never showed any interest in resigning the best shortstop they ever had and never showed any interest in their fan base by not even offering a contract, no compromise, no nothing.  Jose Reyes was the heart and soul of this this team and now the Mets are fucked.  Royally.
Today when the Marlins introduced Reyes as their new shortstop, he stated over and over again that he didn't feel wanted by the New York Mets.  I agree, it was obvious.  But being a lifelong Mets fan, I seen this one coming.  Mets are always ass-backwards when it comes to normal baseball operations.  I would have dumped David Wright for some starting pitching in a heartbeat.  But you can't blame them for wanting a white boy as the face of their franchise.  Or can you?  Am I allowed to play that card?  I don't care, I'm playing it.
As I'm writing this edition, the baseball world is waiting on Albert Pujols' decision.  The Marlins have offered him a 10 year deal.  Dollar amount of the deal wasn't disclosed but come on, it's Pujols, guaranteed to be around $200 million.  Unlike the Mets, the Cardinals, in a last minute effort to keep their face of the franchised offered up a deal worth $220 million.  Rest assured that the owners of both teams are nervous as hell as they await Albert Pujols' decision.  Good thing for the Marlins is that if Pujols decides to stay, Prince Fielder is still available and at a much cheaper price.
In NBA news, the LA Lakers are taking a page out of the Miami Heat's playbook.  They are trying to acquire both, Dwight Howard and Chris Paul.  Both players have reportedly agreed to sign a long term deal with the Lakers if they are in fact traded.  This is a sigh of relief to the Hornets because they won't have to accept the trash from New York, which was the only team that Chris Paul would have taken a deal from.  The Lakers have more talent to deal than do the Knicks.  As far who the Lakers give up, I'm hearing Bynum or Gasol with a draft pick.
This past Sunday, the NY Giants lost a heart breaker to Green Bay.  Best game of the year, hands down.  A late interference penalty on a 3rd and long situation by a rookie Giants linebacker, game the Packers a second opportunity to march down the field for the score.  Giants then tied it up on some amazing passes by Eli Manning but the defense couldn't stop them.  Packers took the ball down to red zone territory, ran down the clock, and kicked the winning FG.  Giants are in a world of trouble now.  They're going to need help if they want to make it to the playoffs.  New York has a big game against Dallas this week, so we'll see.
