ON THE BLOCK SPORTS WITH @NASTYLOS

Now let me get this straight...Manny Ramirez gets caught with some form of synthetic testosterone in his system and all hell breaks loose; allegations flying in from everywhere.  Barry Bonds gets implicated with the whole BALCO ordeal and all hell breaks loose; they want to take his records away.  Ryan Braun gets caught with synthetic testosterone in his system and "let's not rush to judgement" we're told.  Am I missing something?

The newly crowned and reigning NL MVP has been caught playing dirty.  Reports are saying that an exogenous testosterone was found in Braun's test, meaning an outside source of testosterone.  A little science for you guys...every man naturally produces testosterone and a substance called epitestosterone, typically at a ratio of 1-to-1.  In Major League Baseball, if the ratio comes in like at a 3-to-1, I believe, that player is deemed to be dirty and have tested positive. It's not yet disclosed at what ratio Ryan Braun's test was at.  Of course his camp is denying this test and are currently challenging this test through arbitration.  His agent states, "There are highly unusual circumstances surrounding this case which will support Ryan's complete innocence and demonstrate there was absolutely no intentional violation of the program."

Ryan Braun cheated and maybe he didn't.  So what.  Get over it.  But what I cannot get over is how the media and the public are treating this.  Basically they are letting him skate by.  Okay, they're appealing the test result and okay, it hasn't been acknowledged by the MLB that he did fail the test but we were calling for Manny's head as soon as word got out of his failed test.  And America is still calling for Barry Bonds' records to get stricken from history and there isn't even proof of any failed tests!  What's the difference between these three athletes?  Sounds like some bar joke, "Okay, so we have a black, a Hispanic and a white baseball player...."  Manny played the game the way it should be played, which is like a game.  Many times he was lackadaisical with his plays and many times he didn't take anything serious.  He was, for the most part, very candid with the media and wore his emotion out on his sleeve.  Barry Bonds was just branded as this anti-social, confrontational, pompous black guy by the media.  But Bonds smashed the single most important record in all of sports and because he didn't kiss any white ass on the way there America wants to hang him because there's the possibility that he used performance enhancing substances.  Then Ryan Braun, Wisconsin's sweetheart darling of a player, this fun loving, wholesome, young happy go lucky guy gets absolutely no media backlash whatsoever.  I'm just calling it like I see it.  You decide.

As far as performance enhancers, HGH, or whatever yet to come, I believe it enhances the game.  Baseball was, is, and will always be filled with people that do things just to get an edge.  I refuse to believe that players in the golden age of baseball didn't take any veterinary drugs to up their game.  Ruth did it on beer and hot dogs....prove it.  If in this day in age, everyone is suspected of cheating, then everyone that ever played should be suspected of cheating.  Steroids and other performance enhancing drugs didn't just now appear, they've been here for years in one form or another.  And until one can prove, retroactively, that Sandy Koufax, Babe Ruth, Kirby Puckett, Ty Cobb never took such substances, you can shove that shit up your ass.  Everyone is as much of a suspected cheater as the next.

In other baseball news, Scott Boras is at it again.  Remember that big presentation book that he made on A-Rod's behalf that made the Mets fling them out their office?  Well, he's made one for Prince Fielder.  Fielder has put up some impressive numbers and one can expect whichever team picks him up, is going to pay a whole lot.  I haven't heard of any negotiations as of yet but stay tuned.  Aramis Ramirez and Rafael Belliard have signed contract with the Milwaukee Brewers and Casey McGehee, a fan favorite last year of the Brewers, was traded to the dungeon that is Pittsburgh for reliever, Jose Veras.

Dontrelle Willis signed a 1 year contract with the Phillies.  Imagine if Willis somehow miraculously finds his form again.  If he even comes close to how he used to pitch for the Marlins...WOW.  Phillies would have the Murderer's Row of starting pitching.

Infielder Nick Punto signed a 1 year contract with the Red Sox moments after Jed Lowrie was dealt to Houston for their closer, Mark Melancon.

In NBA news, upset that he was offered as part of the package to land Chris Paul, Lamar Odom demanded and was granted a trade to the Dallas Mavericks, who recently signed Vince Carter on a 3 year deal and also, Delonte West, who signed a 1 year.  Things are not looking good for the Lakers.
Chris Paul is now a Clipper.  The Hornets sent Paul packing to LA for a package of Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman, Al-Farouq Aminu and an unprotected draft pick from Minnesota.   Look out, here come the Clippers, ladies and gentlemen.  Blake Griffin, Chauncey Billups, Caron Butler, Randy Foye, Chris Paul...man, I don't think they had this many stars before.
The Knicks signed Tyson Chandler and Mike Bibby.  This move gives the Knicks a true center, that isn't point hungry like Amar'e or Carmelo and that's a good thing.  Nene Hilario resigns with Denver for 67 million, a nice piece of change there.  Kwame Bum, I mean Kwame Brown signs with Golden State for 7 million dollars.  Who in the world would sign this guy AND for 7 million?!?!?!?!  And finally, the Cavs released Baron Davis using their amnesty clause.
