Hello, 2012.
I was planning on doing something like "best of" for 2011 but it was just too much work and frankly, you people out there aren't giving much enthusiasm for me to put in a big effort. Maybe this year will be different. I do have to mention the best name change of the year goes to two people: Ron Artest and Floyd Mayweather. Ron Artest became Metta World Peace and Floyd "Pretty Boy/Money" Mayweather became Floyd "He Sure Got A Purdy Mouth" Mayweather in that Nevada prison.
The NFL postseason starts this Saturday with the wildcard games. The Bengals are at Houston with the Lions playing the Saints. And on Sunday, the Steelers go to Denver and the Falcons come to die in New York. The Giants got in the playoffs by defeating the Cowboys last week and they looked pretty good doing so. Victor Cruz must be tired after doing all that dancing this whole season, don't you agree Jets fans? Should the Giants defeat the Falcons, they advance to play the Packers up in Green Bay. Been there, done that. Giants almost beat the Packers this season. I think if given the opportunity, New York would come out on top yet again with another playoff win but it's San Francisco that I'm worried about.
The Sunday before last, the Giants killed the Jets playoff hopes. LMAO! I just felt the need to add that sentence.
No major signings in the MLB lately. Hanley Ramirez finally spoke to the media and has accepted a position change in order to let Jose Reyes play shortstop. The Marlins also picked up utility man, Greg Dobbs. The Texas Rangers won the auction to speak with Japanese superstar pitcher, Yu Darvish, with a $51 million bid. Check this ladies and gentlemen, the Nationals, yes, the Nationals are reported to be the front runners to land Prince Fielder. That team is already on the way up. Their prized catching prospect, Bryce Harper, should see the show during the summer and we'll get a glimpse of that he's all about. But the once laughing stock that was the Montreal Expos, the Washington National are making some huge moves.
The NBA season tipped off on Christmas, I'm sure a lot of people were happy about that. The media went crazy when the Knicks beat the Celtics and the Lakers lost their first 2 or 3. Here we are, about a couple of weeks later, and the Knicks are almost in the cellar and Lakers are red hot. Andrew Bynum came off his 4 game suspension like a man possessed. He's averaging 23 points and 17 rebounds in his three games back. I guess he's trying to prove Laker-land wrong that he is the man for the job and not Dwight Howard, who they were trying to trade for during the off season. It's a good start but I doubt if he stay consistent throughout the season.
