ON THE BLOCK SPORTS WITH @NASTYLOS

With Round 2 of the NFL playoffs kicking off today, I decided to get off of my ass to write some shit.  Saints at San Fran today as well as Broncos playing at New England.  The offensive juggernaut that is New Orleans should have no problem with the 49ers.  The Saints contained the run pretty good all season and that's just what the 49ers have to offer offensively; a heavy does of Frank Gore.  I don't thing the Niners QB, Alex Smith, is mature enough to handle all the blitzes that are going to come his way.  They also don't have any WRs that merits double teams often.  Saints by 17.  In the late game, we have the Broncos led by the amazingly lucky as shit, Tim Tebow, going against the top AFC seed, Patriots.  Denver beat a defensively sloppy Pittsburgh defense last week to advance and while New England is coming off of a bye, I still don't see them even coming close to losing.  Denver faces a New England #2 ranked pass offense and they only have one Champ Bailey.  You know Tom Brady is going to throw to Wes Welker, Wes Welker, Rob Gronkowski, Wes Welker and Wes Welker.  Denver has no chance.  For those of you that say that Denver has a chance because of New England's extremely bad pass defense, I say this.....Tebow can't throw.  He's a decent running back with a less than average arm.  He'll be out of the league in 3 years.  Patriots by 24.

This past week, the New England Patriots hired former Bronco head coach, Josh McDaniels, who immediately joined their staff.  This move is odd because usually, new hires report to their teams once the season ends.  Leave it up to the Patriots to push the ethics of the game.  The immediate hiring of McDaniels should not have happened.  They are so desperate to win and just like "SPYGATE"showed, the Patriots are willing to do anything no matter how it looks. This shows that the league, with all the moves the mighty idiot Goodell made to fine players, doesn't think about things properly. He should not allow this to happen. But then again, this is New England, a land where the Tom Brady Rule is held to a more higher regard than the US Constitution. I'm not a Tebow fan at all, in fact, I'm far from it, but I hope they really beat New England now even if the consequence is the media shoving more Christianity and religious belief down my throat. Roger Goodell sucks a big one and it shows he plays favorites.

On Sunday, we have the Texans, coming off of their first playoff win, playing at Baltimore and the New York Giants, my New York Giants, at Green Bay playing the Packers.  Please believe that the Houston-Ravens game will be the most boring of the postseason.  Coupled with the fact that it's going to be on CBS, second worse network next to the YES channel, Baltimore is going to smother Arian Foster.  Bye bye running game for Houston.  Tyler Yates, Texans QB, he's going to crumble.  Bye bye air attack.  Baltimore wins 10-3, if not by boredom.
Now the big boys play @4:30 p.m.  Giants are going to beat them.  I said it.  The Giants went blow for blow and stood toe to toe with the defending champs back in Week 13.  A Mason Crosby field goal won it for the Packers as time expired.  Quick story on Mason Crosby...in a fantasy football league I was in with some guys at work, someone drafted him in the 4th round.  Yes.  A kicker.  4th.  Round.  Funniest shit ever.  Anyways, the Giants looked good against the Falcons last week, who I thought really had a chance to bump the Giants out of the playoffs.  Atlanta didn't even show up to play.  The Falcons had the tools to beat New York.  Solid running game and an excellent passing attack with 2 really good wide receivers.  Matt Ryan didn't see any real pressure until the second half.  I guess that's a reflection of how good the Giants secondary played and they need to maintain that consistency tomorrow.  Green Bay has Greg Jennings, an awesome receiver but he's hurt.  They say he may play but as to what degree of healthy he would be remains to be seen.  Packers also have Jordy Nelson, Donald Driver, and James Jones.  Also one of the best tight ends in the league in Jermichael Finley.  Throw in Randall Cobb, their speedster return specialist in the slot a couple of times and the Giants indeed have their hands full.  This is the absolute must see game of the weekend.  Both pass defenses are indeed flawed but remember, Green Bay is coming off of a bye week.  Hopefully they come out rusty and the Giants take advantage.  I see my boy Eli Manning throwing for over 300 yards and 3 touchdowns.  I see both Ahmad Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs rushing for over 60 yards and I also see Victor Cruz doing his dance at Lambeau Field.  New York takes on the Saints next week as they win 38-33.

In baseball news, still no new updates on where Prince Fielder is headed.  It seems that over the winter meeting in December that he was destined to be a Washington National but they couldn't pull the triggers.  Fielder was in Dallas this past week speaking with Rangers brass as well as Nolan Ryan.
The Yankees finally made a move but they gave up too much.  New York traded away their catching phenom, Jesus Montero and pitcher Hector Noesi to the Seattle Mariners for their pitching phenom, Michael Pineda and Jose Campos.  There's no doubt that Michael Pineda is a good pitcher and he may be a #1 guy in the future but to give up Jesus Montero for him, I don't know.  Jorge Posada is gone.  Even if he says he's staying, he's gone.  Montero was pretty good last season.  He showed a lot of upside.  I'm going to like him more that he's not playing for the Yankees.  Watch him be the next catching superstar.  Cashman is a dope.  They also signed former Dodger pitcher, Hiroki Kuroda on a one year, 10 million dollar contract.  The Yankees now go from being a team that was scared about their thin starting pitching roster, to having an abundance of starting pitching.  The Kuroda signing clearly puts AJ Burnett on the outside looking in.  Again, leave it to the Yankees to sign anyone, I repeat anyone to an astronomical contract based on fluke seasons.

No news from the Mets to report other than the Wilpons are idiots but that's common knowledge now.  The only difference now is that the whole baseball world knows it.  Still waiting on my Jose Reyes jersey to show up, by the way.
