Born and raised in the Soundview section of the Bronx, Hip-Hop artist Kon-Ed witnessed firsthand
accounts of drug abuse on his neighborhood and in his immediate family.
Kon-Eds father was a singer himself and his sole musical influence, introducing Kon-Ed to the musical
styles of Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson and The Sugerhill Gang. Kon-Ed began performing as a child
performing RunDmc songs in front of crowds at camp.
Being introduced to the street hustle by a family member, the young Kon-Ed got his first taste of the fast
life. Spending weekends with his older relatives influenced Kon-Ed at 14years old to enter the hustle
game.
Kon-Ed developed a love for Basketball. Winning his 1st championship and M.V.P in the 8th grade and
attending Rice H.S which was one of the nation’s top private schools on a scholarship. Kon-Ed was a All
City Basketball player in the 9th grade, playing against Stephon Marbury, Felipe Lopez, and Shamgod
Wells, Kon –Ed was a basketball prospect with one foot in sports and the other in the streets. Getting
kicked out of Rice H.S, Kon-Ed started playing at Stevenson H.S, later attending a junior college but
soon after he began losing motivation for the sport he loved. Dealing with drug problems within his
household, trying to excel in sports and hustling, Kon-Ed was at a break point. “I was always angry and
was never clear headed”.
Having 2 children 14 months apart and being a provider for his family, Kon-Ed made a decision to
enter the hustle full time. Sensing his run was up he invested into a moving company. Within a week
of structuring the business, he got indicted for selling to an undercover cop. Doing 2 years in the
penitentiary, Kon-Ed set himself up to come home to a business after his release.
His latest mix-tape “Konference Room 4” features the single “Birthday” “ “Dance aka Club 11”
and “Money Over Everything” featuring Oun-P and Mysonne making its rounds in the streets and the
Grown Man Bars (G.M.B) video series on its 4th installment averaging 15k views a video it’s safe to say
this new movement out of the Bronx is just beginning.
